Birthday girl Ashlee Simpson was left fuming this week when her London birthday party became a Z-list celebrity haunt.

The bash to celebrate Simpson’s 22nd year on the planet was attended by such luminaries as Bianca Gascoigne, Charlotte Church, Nikki Grahame and Duncan James.

The star of Chicago was overheard to say: “Who are these people? I don’t even know who they are. If I’d had my party in LA I would have proper celebrities.”

According to the Sun she was then heard to add that any A-listers would be put off by the crowd.

She said: “Ashton (Kutcher) probably walked in, took one look at this lot and turned round and left.”
